Description
Arsenic Trioxide
It is a white powder with the chemical formula of As2o3 and is an amphoteric acid whose aqueous solution has weak acidic property. Although it is slightly soluble in acids, it dissolves in hydrochloric acid and is converted to arsenic penta oxide in response to strong oxidants such as ozone, hydrogen peroxide and nitric acid.
Applications:
In the glass industry, it is used for dyeing and bubbling molds, and is often used about 1% more than the silica used. For the production of colorless electronic glass, the production of arsenic alloys, arsenic semiconductors, as well as in hematology to treat patients with leukemia who are resistant to ATRA therapy. Another use is as a wood preservative.
